Optional Quicken and QuickBooks Links for BSA Pro

Send your client and billing information from BSA to QUICKEN or QuickBooks! You don't have to enter data twice.

Please Note: We don't sell or support Quicken or QuickBooks. This page discusses an optional feature in BSA Pro which allows you to send billing information from BSA Pro to your existing Quicken or QuickBooks program. If you already use Quicken or QuickBooks, you may find this optional feature in BSA Pro to be useful.
Further, Intuit has stopped supporting their popular QIF file format in the newest version of Quicken. As a result, you will not be able to directly import a QIF file created in BSA Pro into the newest version of Quicken. You can, however, obtain a 'converter' that will convert the QIF file into an OFX file which is supported in Quicken. Please search the web for such converters.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS IN QUICKEN
PAYMENTS
In BSA Pro, Payments are monies clients pay you for work you have performed or as reimbursement for expenses. In Quicken, such payments would normally be considered Income and might be categorized as Fee Income, Reimbursed Expenses, etc. With the optional Quicken Link in BSA Pro, you can export your Finalized payments from BSA Pro to a Quicken QIF file that can then be imported from within Quicken. The payment information will appear in Quicken under the categories you select and control from within BSA Pro. You can export New Finalized Payments (those not previously sent), Selected Finalized Payments or those finalized, new payments that fall within a Date Range you set. Since BSA Pro automatically allocates the Payments to Fees, Expenses, Other Charges, Interest and Taxes, you can specify which categories the payment amounts should be allocated to in Quicken. Once you have exported a payment to a Quicken QIF file, it is marked in BSA Pro so that it will not be sent again unless you want it to.
TRUST ACCOUNT TRANSACTIONS
In BSA Pro, there are 3 types of trust transactions: Deposits (DEP) into the trust account, Withdrawals (WDRW) from the trust account and Payments (PMT) from trust. Deposits increase the balance in a trust account and Withdrawals and Payments decrease the balance. Payments are a special type of Withdrawal since they represent a reduction in the client's bill as well as a reduction in the client's trust account balance. The optional Quicken Link in BSA Pro allows you to export any or all of these types of transactions once they have been finalized to a Quicken QIF file. You can then import these transactions into Quicken from the QIF file. In BSA Pro, you can control the allocation categories for these transactions so they will be allocated to the categories you have set up in Quicken. Also, the Description you entered in BSA Pro for Withdrawals can be sent to Quicken so you can easily identify the specifics of the Withdrawal. You can export New Finalized Trust Account transactions (those not previously sent), Selected Finalized transactions, or those finalized, new transactions that fall within a Date Range you set.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS IN QuickBooks
With the optional QuickBooks link for BSA Pro, you can send all of the Trust and Payment information discussed above under the Quicken Information. In addition, you can send Accounts Receivable information and import/export client names and addresses by creating an IIF file in BSA Pro and then importing the information in QuickBooks.

If you have any questions about the QUICKEN/QuickBooks Links, you can download the latest version of BSA Pro and try it. If you're a current BSA user, please be sure to install the new version on a different computer since having two copies of the program on the same computer will cause licensing issues.

If you purchase BSA Pro without the Links, the program will work normally but the Links will not work. If you later decide to purchase the QUICKEN/QuickBooks Links, you'll get a new password which will enable the Links without changing your billing data in any way.

PLEASE NOTE: These optional Links are NOT the Quicken or QuickBooks programs. They are an optional part of the BSA Pro program and allow you to transfer data from BSA Pro to a file that can be read by Quicken or QuickBooks. As a practical matter, you must own Quicken or QuickBooks to effectively make use of the links in BSA Pro. seaBILL does not sell or support Quicken or QuickBooks.
